Steve and Marina Capps - Wedding & Honeymoon
Las Vegas - Sept. 11 to Sept. 16 2002
Day 1 -- Day 2 -- Day 3 -- Day 4 -- Day 5

The flight to Las Vegas was fun, I had a window seat, but there were clouds much of the way. But, often you could see the desert below. For about 2 minutes there was a big break in the clouds, and you could see the Grand Canyon, which was truly huge. One day I want to visit there.

We land in Las Vegas, which had a nice airport. Here's Marina with a statue in the airport. (Yes, they had slot machines inside the airport.)

We are feeling really good that we made it to Las Vegas on time, after the delay. We arrive at about 11 a.m., plenty of time for a full day in Vegas!
We take a taxi to the Mirage Hotel - Steve and Laura Morris gave us rooms there for a wedding gift. The hotels in Las Vegas are incredibly large. The taxi driver says they are the largest hotels in the world - it's easy to believe. The Mirage is as large as any of them. Here we are at the hotel entrance.

-----

When we go inside the Mirage, it is like entering the Amazon jungle. There are plants everywhere, a waterfall -- everything you would want to see if you were dying of thirst in the desert and saw a "mirage".

-----

We go to Check-In, and instead of a wall behind the counter there is a huge aquarium, that goes on for tens of yards. Next, we must walk through the casino to get to the elevators. Everywhere you go, they try to make you walk beside slot machines, blackjack tables, etc. We get to the room and unpack. The room is big, the view out the window is great (we can see the "volcano" out our window) and we are excited and ready to go see Las Vegas!
